I woke up in 2019 this morning. The first thing that happened was Holy Spirit – reminding me of God’s Word: “Our God is a consuming fire.”
A friend recently received a vision from God that 2019 was flames of fire, and 2020 was green & blossoming. Just as farmers have to burn their fields for the upcoming season, seasons of life require a burning out of all the dead things and disease that clog up the earth, keeping it from producing its very best. Everything is black and ugly. Smoke fills the air. It feels like death and destruction. But everyone knows it is necessary for a prosperous year of growth. Everything must burn.
Then it came to me. If God is a consuming fire, then everyone and everything WILL be destroyed. Nothing can withstand fire.
Moses turned aside to see the bush that burned…but was not consumed. Shadrac, Mechac, and Abednego survived the fiery furnace by the presence of God. Only their ropes were burned & they didn’t even smell like smoke. The fire actually freed them from their bondage. And their survival was the beginning of a revival. Scripture is full of illustrations of surviving the fire of God’s presence. But how?
If I remain unchanged, apathetic, lazy, or indifferent to seeking the kingdom of God – I will be consumed. Burned. Destroyed. BUT, if I BECOME PART OF THE FIRE, allowing God’s Spirit, His will, His purpose to burn within me – I will be saved. Just as the prophet Elijah ascended to heaven in a fiery chariot, I will survive by being changed into His image. Transformed. My soul will thrive. I will be alive.
We have no choice really. Either way, we all will BURN. Either as becoming part of the flame of God, or as that which is consumed. At first I was afraid of the idea of a coming fire in 2019. How much death and destruction will I see? But fire is purifying. Fire paves the way for new life and abundance. It must be done. Yes, it destroys. But it only destroys the bad. It does so much more good. It’s time to clear away and begin again.
My chosen word for 2019 is REBORN. When the old is burned away, everything is made new.
“And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament. And they that turn many to righteousness, as the stars forever and ever, they shall shine.” ~Daniel 12:3
Be brave, be wholly surrendered to the purpose of God, and get ready to face the fire.
